This week
Sorry about not posting on Friday, it totally slipped my mind. And I’ve had internet problems lately.
Well we haven’t really been doing much. Just putting together a year book and working on end of the year stuff and finishing up the boat. I think I will try to post pictures on Monday if I have time. Sometime this week hopefully.
We had a fire marshal come into the school and talk to us and inspect the school. It was kind of interesting. I will post again this Friday.

Prom/AA meet
This week our high school had an AA meet/Prom (Athletics/academics). It was also combined with the MS AA meet. It was a lot of fun. We left on Monday and came back Friday (today); the middle school left Thursday morning. We went up to Newhalen. This year’s AA meet was focused on leadership. We had a lot of people talk to us about leadership. We had workshops that we did and classes. We also had a talent show and NYO events (Native youth Olympics). We also did things called ice breakers in the mornings sometimes. There was also a board, they called it a beamer board that you put an envelope with your name on it and people could leave messages for you.
Some of the workshops/classes were: Public Speaking, Archery, Air Rifles, a Service Project, Outdoor survival, and a teamwork one (there isn’t really a good name for it but it made us work in teams). We made compost bins out of pallets for the people for Newhalen.
We had classes that we got to choose two of what we wanted to do and one was already chosen for us. We could have chose from: Martial Arts, Dance, Beading, Ice Fishing, and taking the DMV written test. Everyone had to do a How to Study class.
We were split up into groups. Our groups also played tug-of-war. My group (H) won the championship.
Thursday night was prom; it ran from 6 PM to 12 AM. It was really fun this year; we got just about everyone dancing. They also bought flowers for people to buy and some sparkling cider to drink. One of the teachers running the music selection decided that at one of the slow songs, we would go out there and dance by ourselves until someone came up to us. And then we spend about an hour cleaning.
This morning we had an awards ceremony. There were awards for NYO, the talent show, speeches, sportsmanship, archery, and air rifles. We are also sending some students to the state NYO competition.
I plan on posting LOTS of pictures once I get them from my teacher. To tell you the truth, I am probably forgetting something but if I think of anything else, I will probably post some little notes.

State Testing *dun dun DUNNNN*
This week we had state testing. Reading was Tuesday, Writing on Wednesday, Math on Thursday and science on Friday (today). I, myself, thought it was a very boring week. The tests were kind of easy so I think I passed. But we won’t know about our scores until next school year. If I pass, then I never have to take them again! But if I don’t pass then I will re-take them next year. It’s been a long week. Our parents and community members brought snacks for everyone that was taking the tests.
Now that testing is over, we can do more fun things in school. But first we have to finish up any additional standards to finish our levels.
Next week is the AA meet/Prom (athletics/academics). We made a Science Project because there is a Science Fair. There is also a talent show, it’s optional but we will figure out something. Haha

Upcoming Events
This week we haven’t been doing much. Everyone is working on their writing prompts to pass there levels.
Next week we have state testing. The week after that we leave for the HS AA meet/Prom.
This weekend we are having a fundraiser potluck on Saturday. We are hoping to have a family of 11 move to our village next year. If they do move here it will be good for our school because that means more students. We have to have a minimum of 10 students to get state funding. We currently have only 13 students. We have a senior that will graduate later this year.
