Volleyball

This week we went to our District Tourney. Which was in Newhalen. Our team, which was Tyler, me, and Zach, took 6th place. There were about 11 schools and about 14 teams. Some schools had two teams. We won three games.

We also did a lot of other things besides volleyball. We had a service project that the Newhalen iLead students ran. A few of the south iLead students ran a teamwork building shop.

The service project was to write letters to people in the military or the hospital. I didn’t get to go since I was helping with the teamwork session. But Zach did say that there was a big stack of letters so I think it went well.

The teamwork building sessions were basically a bunch of mini icebreakers. The first activity we did was sticking a card on our foreheads and treating the person based on the value of the card. Then after about 15 minutes, we lined up based on the way we were treated. The next activity was to get into groups and pass a tennis ball around and introduce themselves. Then another tennis ball was added and they had to do it again, after they were done that time, a volleyball was added. The last activity was an obstacle course. The groups had a leader and everyone was blindfolded but their leader. They had to put their hands on each others shoulders and the leader had lead them through a obstacle course. I think everyone had a good time doing all of the activities.

We also had a serving and a bump contest. Pilot Point won the serving contest and got a trophy. Madison Manning and Rylee Manning won the bump contest.

We had an award ceremony after all of the games. The Levelock Vikings took first place. 8 people were picked for an all tourney team that would stay in Newhalen and play at regionals. I have heard that they have been practicing very hard! Good luck to the LPSD All Tourney Team!

I didn't take any pictures while I was there, I'm sorry :D

Salmon Tank

This morning we decided to set up the tank we will be hatching fish in. We have a tank, an air compressor, and a condenser. We also got some gravel and some rocks. Our teacher would like to get bigger rocks at some point so we can see the fish hiding better.

Today we also have to send the Alutiiq language box back to Kodiak. We made a few copies of the pages.

A board game
We had our Banana Split Social on Saturday at 6. We got a few donations but everyone had fun. We packaged up the rest of the bananas and are planning on using them for smoothies.

Next week we are going to Newhalen. We are leaving Monday. It will just be Tyler, Zach and me going. We will be gone until Wednesday.

Well thats all for now. I'll post pictures of the social sometime next week when I get back. :D

FRIDAY! :D

Hi, my posting has been off since sports and traveling. This Saturday, at 6PM, we are going to have a ice cream social. We will be making banana splits and accepting donations for our student government. We also got our student government order in.

On the 14th, we will be traveling to Newhalen for our District Trouney. We will be there until the 16th. Our coach spent a lot of his time yesterday putting up a new volleyball net for us. :)

We started learning Alutiiq in school. We got a box from the Alutiiq Museum in Kodiak. It contained flash cards, CDs, projector slides and a video. We have been having half hour lessons everyday.

Today we have parent-teacher confferences. We got out of school at one today.

Well this is it until next Friday, I hope your weekend is awesome!
